Heads of Year
Heads of Year (HOY) play a vital role in supporting students throughout their educational journey. Each HOY is dedicated to a specific year group, providing age-appropriate guidance and tailored interventions to meet the unique needs of students at different stages of their development.
The Heads of Year focus on offering pastoral care and support, ensuring that every student feels valued and cared for. They build strong relationships through daily interactions and mentorship, helping students navigate the challenges of academy life. This personalised approach allows HOYs to understand the individual aspirations and needs of each student.
HOYs monitor various aspects of student life, including academic progress, behaviour, attendance, and overall wellbeing. By keeping a watchful eye on these areas, they can quickly identify and address any concerns, ensuring that students remain on track and receive the support they need to succeed. This proactive approach helps create a positive and encouraging atmosphere where good behaviour is reinforced and poor behaviour is discouraged.
In addition to providing individual support, the Heads of Year work collaboratively with other staff members to create an inclusive approach to student development. This teamwork ensures that all aspects of a student's experience at the Academy are considered, promoting both academic and personal growth. Parents are encouraged to contact their child's Head of Year with any concerns or questions, building a strong partnership between home and school. This open line of communication ensures that parents are actively involved in their child's education and wellbeing, further supporting the student's development.
Overall, the Heads of Year are integral to the Academy’s mission to support each student's journey, providing comprehensive care and guidance enabling students to achieve their full potential.
