Canford School & The Bourne Academy Celebrate 15 Years of Partnership

Since 2010, Canford and The Bourne Academy have developed a strong and collaborative partnership, working together to enhance educational opportunities and outcomes for students. What began as a mission to support a new Academy has grown into a dynamic collaboration, benefiting both institutions through shared expertise, academic enrichment, co-curricular initiatives, and leadership development.

This partnership has led to significant achievements, including:

• Academic Excellence – The Bourne Academy’s exam results and Ofsted rating have improved, with many students progressing to Russell Group universities.
• Student Enrichment – From joint Oxbridge preparation and medical training to STEM challenges and theatre productions, students from both schools benefit from diverse learning experiences.
• Bursary & Mentorship Opportunities – Over 20 students have received Canford Sixth Form bursaries, while all Bourne Academy Sixth Form students gain access to individual business mentors.
• Sporting & Extracurricular Success – From Duke of Edinburgh expeditions to Greenpower F24 electric car racing, collaboration extends far beyond the classroom.
• National Recognition – The partnership has been highlighted in the Independent Schools Council ‘Celebrating Partnerships’ Report and shortlisted for prestigious community engagement awards.
