The Bourne Academy Partners with Homewards BCP Coalition and Shelter to Develop Classroom Resources on Homelessness Prevention
The Bourne Academy is delighted to announce its partnership with the Homewards Bournemouth, Christchurch & Poole (BCP) coalition and national charity Shelter to create new classroom resources aimed at increasing awareness of homelessness and its prevention. As part of the #Homewards initiative, these resources will empower students and staff with a deeper understanding of homelessness and provide information on available support.
The educational materials are designed for different age groups, addressing a range of issues related to homelessness. This unique collaboration aims to encourage empathy, insight, and practical knowledge among students, helping to build a more informed and compassionate school community.
“At The Bourne Academy, we believe in the importance of raising awareness around social issues and equipping our students to make a positive impact. We are very proud to be working with Shelter and the Homewards BCP coalition on this project,” said Mark Avoth from The Bourne Academy. “These resources will not only help our students understand the causes and challenges of homelessness but also ensure they know how to seek support for those in need.”
Homewards’ community-driven approach has united coalitions across the UK, and the BCP partnership is already showing promise as a model for positive change. By gathering feedback from staff and students, The Bourne Academy hopes to refine these materials and share successful approaches with other Homewards locations, expanding the project’s reach and impact.
“We are excited to see the difference these resources will make in our classrooms,” the representative continued, “and to work with Homewards to share what we’ve learned with other communities.”
The Bourne Academy is proud to play a part in this important initiative, helping to address homelessness through education and awareness.
