The Bourne Academy, an all ability state-funded secondary Academy established by its sponsor Canford School in 2010, is delighted to announce it has achieved our best ever Sixth Form results.

Since opening the Sixth form at The Bourne Academy in September 2013 results have consistently outperformed the national picture with 100% of our students achieving a grade A* to E each year (National Average 98%). Furthermore, all our students who wanted to go to University have gained a place at their choice of Institution or Course. This is a fantastic achievement and is one of the key areas measured by the Government in terms of those in Education, Employment or Training (EET).  Particularly pleasing this year, are the number of students who have gained entry to highly prestigious Russell group Universities (Please see below). Furthermore, congratulations to Javier Monroy Yepez, who gained one of the prestigious scholarships to Canford, and has now secured a place at Cambridge University to study Human, Social and Political Sciences

Mark Avoth, Principal, said ‘We are all delighted with our best ever results.  They build on the successes of our 6th Form of the last three years and we are immensely proud of our students.  To achieve these results in a year when A levels have become more challenging is fantastic.  The fact that more and more of our students are now accessing University courses at Russell Group Universities is testament to students, teachers, parents/carers, all working together to raise academic expectations, whether that be in traditional STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Maths) or Performing and Visual Arts subjects‘

Kelly Franklin, Head of Sixth Form said I am absolutely ecstatic that over 50% of our Year 13 students who have applied to university have secured an offer at their first choice university or better. It is a pleasure to see that all of our leavers are delighted with their achievements and excited about their future plans. These excellent results are testament to all the hard work of the students and staff that have supported our students over the past two years. Every year The Bourne Academy 6th Form exceeds expectation and we are all very excited about the future.
