AFC Bournemouth’s Community Sports Trust is using The Bourne Academy’s sports facilities to host several Active Holidays Sessions to provide free sports activities to our students during the Christmas holidays.
The sessions are to run from Monday 21 December – Wednesday 23 December and will see students not only partake in a range of activities and workshops, but also receive a free lunch meal.
This follows on from initiatives launched by Premier League footballer Marcus Rashford, on supporting school children during school holidays.
The sessions will run from 10am – 3pm each day and require complete attendance across all three days from students who attend.
If your child is interested in attending, please register your interest by emailing matt.underwood@afcb.co.uk
In addition to the sport activities that are being provided over Christmas, AFC Bournemouth is also launching their PL Inspires project, which could greatly benefit some of The Bourne Academy’s Year 10 students.
The scheme officially launched on Thursday 17 December and students joining in football engagement sessions until February half-term – not too late to join, please enquire.
Beyond this, the students can then work towards additional qualifications centred around career options, employability skills and a sports leadership pathway.
For all sports enquiries at The Bourne Academy, please email Director of Sport mike.child@thebourneacademy.com
Kingsleigh Primary School student Ellie, launched a Christmas food bank collection, with the goal of donating food to those most in need over the festive period. The idea snowballed as staff and students from both Kingsleigh Primary School and The Bourne Academy began to donate items to the cause. The collection now has over 50 festive hampers ready to donate to those in need in the local community.
Ellies mum, Mrs Luker, who works at The Bourne Academy says ‘Ellie decided to do “Ellies Advent Collection” and donate an item a day in December to people who are less fortunate. Ellie is passionate about helping others and she feels very proud that so many people have supported her in collections”.
Kingsleigh Primary School Headteacher, Mr James Lumber says "We are all really proud of Ellie at KPS, for her amazing efforts with her collection and for being so proactive, kind and caring. I know that the donations will be really appreciated in the community and they will make a real difference to families this Christmas."
Students will be dismissed from 1.35pm on Thursday 17 December.
Friday 18 December is an INSET Day, no Students in the Academy.
